Introduction
Retirement apartments and a new shop for Nuneaton
Deeley Properties and Housing 21 are working together to bring forward plans for a retirement living scheme in Nuneaton. The site, which is adjacent to the Bermuda Phoenix Community Centre, can deliver 42 affordable retirement living apartments. A separate application will also be submitted for a new convenience store next to the community centre.
This will help to meet local need for retirement accommodation, and deliver a much-needed shop for existing local residents.

What’s being planned?
High-quality retirement living space
As people live longer, it is vitally important that they are living in the places that are right for them. For many older people looking to downsize, they still want to live locally and independently, while also being in a home that suits their needs and has conveniences close by. This is why retirement living schemes are an increasingly popular choice.
Retirement living offers a blend of private accommodation with a supportive community. Residents live in their own secure and purpose-built apartments, maintaining their independence and privacy. The developments are designed with shared facilities, such as communal lounges and landscaped gardens, which provide opportunities to socialise and build friendships.

A new community shop
Meeting the needs of the local community
Our plans include a new convenience store, which will be submitted as a separate planning application. This will adjoin the existing Bermuda Phoenix Community Centre and serve as a valuable new facility that meets the needs of both future residents and the wider community. We are currently in advanced discussions with an operator, and further information will be shared on this in due course.
By offering this much-needed service and creating new local jobs, we are confident that the shop will become a valuable asset for the area. We will also be re-providing car parking spaces for the community centre as part of the plans.

Sustainability
A forward-thinking approach
Making sure that the proposals are delivered in a sustainable way is one of our top priorities. We will be delivering a net gain in biodiversity by preserving and enhancing green areas. We are also looking at way to incorporate sustainability into the design of the new buildings, including the use of rooftop solar panels and EV charging facilities.
